An important message from the HSE Building Safety and Construction Division

We are sharing a communication from the DHF concerning a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) communication on installation, operation and maintenance manuals.

"To members of the DHF Industrial Door, Garage Door and Automated Gate Groups

HSE has requested that DHF distributes the attached letter to as many industry stakeholders as possible. 

The letter draws attention to a serious need for manufacturers to provide accurate installation, operation and maintenance manuals with their products.  It also requests that steps are taken by the legal manufacturer and installation companies to remind their clients (in writing) that operation and maintenance manuals are to be retained and made available on site to all who have a need to work on installed systems in the future.  Without sufficient maintenance instructions available on site, serious incidents, injuries and death can result.

Members are requested to take note of the HSE request for action themselves and pass this letter on to their clients, whether they be manufacturers, installation companies, maintenance companies, owners, facilities managers, managing agents or site managers.
