Garage doors as design elements

Whether as a new door or as a replacement, garage doors play a huge part in defining the look of homes nowadays: With a wide range of colours, surfaces and design elements, there’s no virtually end to the amount of design options available. Door expert Jörg Meyer-Holtkamp from the door manufacturer Teckentrup (Verl) says: “These days, sectional doors are an individual business card”. In the past, garage doors were folding doors that all looked the same. As such, they did not really make a contribution to the architecture of the house. These days, however, they are increasingly becoming a stylish and eye-catching feature in the property. With the current variety of design features, they provide striking touches and can be perfectly integrated into the overall architecture.

Wide range of colours

Whether it’s elegant anthracite, radiant white or eye-catching red – the “CarTeck” doors (Teckentrup) offer 15 trend colours which can be individually combined to match the façade, window frame and the front door. Each colour tone from the RAL palette can be supplied, meaning specific customer desires can be satisfied. The trend colours with micaceous iron oxide provide an exclusive look and give the door a metallic, premium shimmering look. Meyer-Holtkamp explains: “The four wooden decors Golden oak, Dark oak, Mahogany and Winchester provide rustic timber-framed or brickwork façades”. For lovers of real wood, garage doors are now available in solid wood (e.g. teak, pine, oak and walnut).

These days, the architecture of your own four walls is strongly influenced by the garage and its door. Subtle grey tones are currently fashionable. Wooden decors blend seamlessly into the rustic façade.

There are further style tools such as the finish (with or without ribs) and the surface structure (woodgrain, stucco, micro-profiled, smooth). The door gains an even higher level of individuality with the glazing elements – round, square-shaped or rectangular with crossbar. Meyer-Holtkamp: “These beautiful variants are especially recommendable for windowless garages”. And if that’s not enough, the door can be visually enhanced with stylish stainless steel applications (door: “CarTeck GSW 40-L”). With the eight design elements for doors and gates, you can ideally create a uniform look for the garage doors and side or front doors.
